Proximity Sensors

Proximity sensors can be used in a wide array of industrial applications to detect the presence of items without using any physical contact. These are often referred to as non-contact sensors or dancers. A great example is the Non-Contact Dancer by Carotron that features two models, NCD01-000 without limit switches and NCD02-000 with limit switches. These particular analog proximity sensors can sense cam position giving a 1 to 9VDC output that’s proportional to the angular position of the shaft. They feature a stainless steel, faced shaft for durability and easier installation. If your application uses machinery for which long equipment life is crucial to your operation, then non-contact proximity sensors are recommended.

Non-contact sensor benefits include (but are not limited to) reduced wear and tear, no moving parts or mechanical contact parts, reduced risk of contamination, lightweight, easy to use and embed for moving parts, and many more. As a plant manager or facility owner, your focus is likely to keep a cost effective operation while producing high quality products. Keeping your equipment in top working condition can help you reach these goals! When shopping for proximity sensors, look for non-contact products of high quality and with the features you need. Browse the manufacturer’s website to view brochures, photos, etc. and to save time and money.
