Web Guiding Systems
In industrial edge guiding, it’s important to implement web guiding systems that work smoothly and cost effectively. Web guiding controllers are used to achieve accurate alignment of an edge of film by controlling the position of the web. By implementing a reliable web guiding system, your facility can save money and increase production time. Loss of material is reduced, thus reducing the overall costs of operation. To create a sufficient system for edge guide control, you’ll need to install three basic products – an actuator, controller and sensor. These work together to detect and send signals for controlling the alignment of the web. There are several types of controllers, including pneumo hydraulic, analog and digital. There are also several types of actuators and sensors, which should be chosen based on the application, facility and type of web material being guided.
Web guiding systems are a must for accurate alignment, whether guiding thick metal strips, very thin plastics or even wide/narrow webs. Carotron, Inc. manufactures the Edge Guider Model EG1000-000. This Edge Guider can handle up to 1/2-horsepower 90 VDC armature P.M. motors and 1-horsepower 180 VDC P.M. motors. If you need to develop a web guiding system that works seamlessly with your edge guiding application, Carotron’s engineers are always available to help you determine the right products and how to go about installing them.
